Panagiotis Stathis graduated from the Department of History and Archeology of the University of Athens. He now elaborates a PhD thesis in the Department of History and Archaeology of the University of Crete. The theme of his thesis is the Historiography of the Greek Revolution of 1821.
He has worked at the Historical Archives of the Agricultural Bank of Greece, the Historical Archives of the University of Crete and the Closed Access Collection Department of the Library of the University of Crete. He has taught modern and contemporary Greek history at the School Guides of Heraklion (Crete).
His main research interests concern the following thematic areas: history and historiography of the Greek Revolution of 1821, history and historiography of banditry, history of Greek nationalism, history of the Greek historiography. On the above mentioned historical domains he has published several articles in Greek historical journals and collected volumes.
Within the framework of the Programme of the University of Athens “Education of the Muslim children”, he has written the chapter on the Greek Revolution in the textbook of the Third Class of Gymnasium (secondary school) for Muslim pupils.
